Biographical/Historical Note

Sister Marie Hyacinthe was born Melina Robert on April 16, 1878 in Rhode Island. No date of entrance to the Fall River Congregation is recorded. She received the habit on January 15, 1901 and was given the religious name, Sister Marie Hyacinthe. She pronounced first vows on February 1, 1902. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: St. Anne's; Acushnet, 1923-1924; Plattsburgh, NY; and Dominican Academy, Fall River, NY, 1927-1930. Sister also served the congregation as sacristan in Fall River, MA, 1905-1910, 1922-1923, 1930-1937. She died on July 15, 1939.
