Biographical/Historical Note

Sister Marie Alvarez was born Alice Pelletier on October 10, 1891 in Lewiston, ME. No date of entrance to the Fall River Congregation is recorded. She received the habit on August 4, 1910 and was given the religious name, Sister Marie Alvarez. She pronounced final vows on August 31, 1915. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Cohoes, NY; St. Anne's, Fall River, MA; St. Francis Xavier, Acushnet, MA; Plattsburgh, NY; Mooers Forks, NY; and Peru, NY. Sister also taught catechism in Treadwell Mills and Jericho, NY. She died on August 4, 1975.
