Biographical/Historical Note
Sister Mary of Carmel was born Genevieve Lord on May 8, 1909 in Canada. She entered the Fall River Congregation on January 8, 1929. She received the habit on July 9, 1929 and was given the religious name, Sister Mary of Carmel. She pronounced first vows on August 4, 1930 and final vows on August 15, 1935. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Dominican Academy, Fall River, MA, 1931-1938, 1939-1940, and 1948; St. Anne, 1938-1939; and Plattsburgh, NY, 1940-1948. Sister also worked full time in the Art Studio, 1971-, and gave private art lessons. Sister Mary of Carmel earned a Certificate in Art from Catholic University of America, Washington, DC, and an AB from St. Michael College, Winooski, VT. She died on February 26, 1983.
