Biographical/Historical Note
Sister Anita was born Anita Lavalley on December 25, 1915 in Fall River, MA. She was baptized Anita Lavelley. She entered the Fall River Congregation on March 7, 1932. She received the habit on March 6, 1933 and was given the religious name, Sister Mary James. (She began using the name, Sister Anita after Vatican II). She pronounced first vows on March 7, 1934 and final vows on March 7, 1937. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: St. Anne's, Plattsburgh, NY, 13 years: and Dominican Academy, Fall River, MA, 11 years. She died on January 29, 1988.
