Biographical/Historical Note
Sister Marie Villana was born Marthe Lanoue on September 8, 1896 in Central Falls, RI. No date of entrance to the Fall River Congregation is recorded. She received the habit on December 8, 1914 and was given the religious name, Sister Marie Villana. She pronounced first vows on December 8, 1915 and final vows on December 8, 1919 . During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Dominican Academy, Fall River, MA, 1915-1919, 1921-1940, 1942-1945, and 1952-1970; Holy Rosary, Grafton, ND, 1919-1921; St. Peter's, Plattsburg, NY, 1940--1942, and 1945-1949; Peru, NY, 1949-1952; NS and St. Catherine, Fall River, MA, 1967-1971. During these years, Sister taught mostly music classes and gave music lessons. She also taught High School Latin, Spanish and French. She died on November 23, 1985.
