Biographical/Historical Note

Sister Bartholomew was born Eva Langevin on March 23, 1894 in Lynn, MA. No date of entrance to the Fall River Congregation is recorded. She received the habit on August 4, 1918 and was given the religious name, Sister Marie Bartholomew. (She began using the name, Sister Bartholomew after Vatican II). She pronounced first vows on August 4, 1919 and final vows on August 4, 1923 . During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: St. Joseph, Fall River, MA, 1919-1920; St. Anne, Fall River, MA, 1920-1923, 1928-1936, 1941-1948, and 1950-1951; Dominican Academy, 1923-1924, and 1957-1961; St. Francis Xavier, Acushnet, MA, 1924-1925, and 1948-1950; St. Peter, Plattsburg, NY, 1925-1928, and 1957-1959;. Sister also served the congregation as Mistress General of Schools, 1936-1941. She died on April 14, 1978.
