Biographical/Historical Note

Sister Marie Damien was born Liviana Blanchette on December 14, 1890 in Salem, MA. No date of entrance to the Fall River Congregation is recorded. She received the habit on March 7, 1918 and was given the religious name, Sister Marie Damien. She pronounced first vows on March 7, 1919 and final vows on March 25, 1923. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Dominican Academy, Fall River MA; St. Ann's, Fall River, MA; St. Thomas, Fall River, MA; St. Peter's, Plattsburg, NY; St. Francis Xavier, Acushnet, MA; St. Rose, Acushnet, MA; Peru, NY; Mooers Forks, NY; and St. John's Nursery. She also served at the Motherhouse in Fall River as Sub Prioress and in both the novitiate and the infirmary. She died on October 21, 1985.
