Scope and Contents The painting is a full length portrait of Mother Augustine Neuhierl, the foundress of the Dominican Sisters of the Most Holy Rosary, Newburgh, NY.  She is seated in an ornate, wooden-backed chair.  Behind her is a wall on which there is a painting of a lake and  sky in the background with evegreen trees in the foreground.  To the figure's left is a red velvet, floor to ceiling drapery with gold fringe on the bottom.  The drapery is pulled back by gold tassels.
