Scope and Contents

The collection consists of VHS recordings of gatherings of the Dominican Sisters of the Most Holy Rosary, Newburgh, NY for the following purposes: General Chapters; Assemblies; speaker talks; special days and events; Joint Assemblies and Joint General Chapters with the Congregations of the Dominican Sisters of Fall River, MA and the Dominican Sisters of the Sick Poor (Ossining,  NY);  Council Connectors; Transition of Leadership; Board of Directors meetings; Bishop Daily's anointing of the sick, and broadcast interviews.

Abstract

The collection contains VHS recordings of gatherings of the Dominican Sisters of the Most Holy Rosary, Newburgh, NY for religious and corporate purposes.

Arrangement Note

The collection is arranged in 10 series and 10 Sub-Series; then by box number under each series or subseries;  then by item number and  title in each box. The collection is contained in 8 archival boxes, each of which measures 16 3/8" x 6 7/8" x 4 7/8".  Boxes 1- 7 contain 12 tapes each.  Box 8 contains 13 tapes.

Technical Access Requirements

A VHS player is required to view the videos in the collection.

Custodial History

The archives of the Dominican Sisters of the Most Holy Rosary were previously were housed at the Newburgh Center of Hope in Newburgh, NY, which was formerly the Motherhouse and infirmary of the Dominican Sisters of Newburgh.  They remained there until June 15, 2011.  Owing to the sale of the Newburgh buildings to Mount St. Mary College, the archives were moved to the Ossining Center of Hope at Mariandale in Ossining, NY on June 16, 2011.

Accruals and Additions

No future accruals are expected.

Processing Information

On 2014 October 2, when creating the Finding Aid for this collection, the archivist was unable to enter the unit IDs for some series, sub-series, and items, because the Archon program would not "save" the data.
