The candle is from the monastery in Regensberg, Germany, to which the Dominican Sisters of Newburgh trace their foundation.
Physical Description
The Regensberg candle, which has been lighted and used many times, now measures 9 1/2" high by 5 1/8" in diameter at its widest. It is surrounded by a fresco-like frame of wax measuring 1/2" deep, which is carved with golden scrolls around the top and bottom, colored lattice work around half the circumference, and a depiction of the Last Supper, in color, around the other half the circumference.
