Biographical or Historical Information
The Ministry Trust was a grant issuing organization established by the Dominican Sisters of the Sick Poor, Ossining. The trust was established as a working fund to support sisters' expenses. Eventually it was put into a trust to be used for the poor. In 1995 trust got absorbed by the Dominican Sisters of Hope with the merger of the 3 congregations. To expand their giving, the sisters of Hope decided to legally turn the Ministry Trust over to the Westchester Community Foundation. Under the new name, Sisters Empowerment Fund, the Westchester Community Foundation disperses funds from the old Ministry Trust to successful grant applicants.
