This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Sharon was born Sharon Yount on October 6, 1948 in Somerdale, NJ. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on August 30, 1975 and was received into the novitiate on September 5, 1976. She pronounced first vows on August 6, 1978 and final vows on October 11, 1981 . During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools as teacher of physical education: Saint Ursula, Mount Vernon, NY, 1975-1977, and also assisted in the parish religious education program during that time; Bishop Dunn Memorial School in Newburgh NY, 1977-1993. Sister was involved in low-income housing construction in Orland, Maine, 1993-1998, and in Bucksport, Maine, 1998-2005. 2005 She was site supervisor and clerk of works for the Presentation Education Foundation, Inc. in Newburgh NY, 2005-2009. Sister has been the Coordinator of Moves as the sisters transitioned to different living situations. Sister Sharon earned her BA in Physical Education from Glassboro State College.
