This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Frederica was born Rita Warden on August 13, 1921 in Cornwall, NY. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on September 8, 1940 and received the habit on June 27, 1941 when she was given the religious name, Sister Frederica. She pronounced first vows on June 28, 1942 and final vows on August 20, 1948. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Mt. St. Mary, Newburgh, NY, 1942-1943; St. Mary, Newburgh, NY, 1943-1944, 1951-1966; St. Patrick, Woodbury, NJ, 1944-1948; Assumption, Fairfield, CT, 1948-1950; and St. Joan of Arc, Camden, NJ, 1966-1968. She was librarian at Christ the King School, Yonkers, NY, 1968-1986. In 1986 she retired to the Dominican Sisters of Hope Newburgh Center, where she volunteered in the grandparent program at Bishop Dunn Memorial School until 1999. Sister Frederica earned her BS in Elementary Education from Villanova. She died January 23, 2012.
