This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Martine was born Helen Wald on April 30, 1897 in Columbus, OH. She entered the Ossining Congregation December 7, 1926 and received the habit on June 8, 1927 when she received the religious name, Sister Mary Martine. She pronounced first vows on June 8, 1928 and final vows on June 8, 1931. During her years in the congregation she served in the Dominican Sisters of the Sick Poor Family Health Agencies: New York City, 1928-1936; Cincinnati, OH, 1936-1941, 1942--1943; Dayton, OH, 1944-1954, 1957-1961; and Springfield, OH, 1956-1957; Bronx, NY, 1962-1963. Sister retired and moved to Ossining, NY, 1977-1992, and then to Siena Hall, Newburgh, NY in 1992. She died August 13, 1997.
