This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Mary was born Mariann Treanor on April 23, 1934 in NYC. She entered the Ossining Congregation September 7, 1952 and received the habit on March 8, 1953 when she received the religious name, Sister Mary. She pronounced first vows on April 19, 1954 and final vows on September 9, 1957. During her years in the congregation she served in the Dominican Sisters of the Sick Poor Family Health Agencies: in Boston, MA, 1955-1956; New York City, 1956-1960, Ossining, NY, as a staff nurse, 1960-1963, as supervisor, 1963-1966, and as director, 1966-1974; and Springfield, OH, 1974-1978. She served as outreach nurse for the East End Community Health Center in Cincinnati, OH, 1978-1980, and then became pastoral associate at Our Lady of Presentation Parish in Cincinnati, OH, 1980-1984. Sister volunteered her services at: Blythedale Children's Hospital, Hawthorne, NY, 1984-1985; Newburgh Ministry, Newburgh, NY, 1985-1986; Dominican Sisters Family Health, Ossining, NY, 1986-1988; and at the County Health Department in Downingtown, PA, 1988-1989. She was a staff nurse for the Visiting Nurse Service of Westchester, 1989-1994, and was a nurse with the Dominican Sisters Family Health Services, Ossining, NY, 1994-1997. She retired from active ministry in 1997 and moved to the Dominican Sisters of Hope , Newburgh, NY, in 2000. Sister Mary earned her BS in Nursing and her MS in Public Health from Hunter College. She died April 16, 2011.
