This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Maureen was born Maureen Sullivan on October 6, 1947 in NYC. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on August 30, 1966 and received the habit on June 14, 1966 when she was given the religious name, Sister Lawrence Eileen. (She began using the name, Sister Maureen after Vatican II). She pronounced first vows on June 17, 1967 and final vows on September 30, 1972. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Nativity School, Bronx, NY,1969-1971; Bishop Dunn Memorial, Newburgh, NY, 1971-1972; and Holy Family, New Rochelle, NY, 1972-1980. After pursuing full-time studies, she was academic dean for freshmen at Fordham University’s Rose Hill Campus, Bronx, NY, 1985-1987, and associate professor of theology at Saint Anselm College, Manchester, NH, 1989-. Sister Maureen earned her: BA in English from Mount Saint Mary College, Newburgh, NY; her MA in Religious Studies from Manhattan College, Bronx, NY; and her PhD in Theology from Fordham University.
