This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Kathleen was born Kathleen Sullivan on January 29, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on September 8, 1950 and received the habit on June 15, 1951 when she was given the religious name, Sister James Francis. (She began using the name, Sister Kathleen after Vatican II). She pronounced first vows on June 17, 1952 and final vows on September 23, 1955. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Sts. John and Paul, Larchmont, NY, 1952-1962; and a French teacher at Saint Mary HS, Paterson, NJ,1962-1969. She taught French and was chairperson of the Foreign Language Department at Monsignor Donovan HS, Toms River, NJ, 1969-1995. She was also a member of the Campus Ministry Team at Monsignor Donovan HS and the RCIA Team at Saint Joseph Parish, Toms River, NJ. Following a sabbatical, Sister Kathleen returned to Msgr. Donovan HS where she was involved in campus ministry and tutoring, 1996-2005. Sister Kathleen earned her BA in French from Seton Hall and her MA in French from Western Reserve University. She died April 3, 2014.
