This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Aline was born Aline St. Denis on July 19, 1917 in Plattsburgh, NY. She entered the Fall River Congregation on August 29, 1936 and received the habit on March 6, 1937when she received the religious name, Sister Francis Celene. (She began using the name, Sister Aline after Vatican II). She pronounced first vows on March 7, 1938 and final vows on March 7, 1941. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: St. Anne, Fall River, MA, 1938-1946, 1949-1953; St. Xavier, Acushnet, MA, 1946-1949; Chateaugay, 1953-1956; Dominican Academy, Fall River, MA, 1957-1959, principal, 1959-1962; St. Peter, Plattsburgh, NY, 1962-1966; and St. Bernadette, New Haven, CT, 1966-1968. Sister also served in Rehabilitation Services, Washington, DC, Supervisor, Department of Human Resources, 1968-1987, and Education Coordinator, 19878-1990. She volunteered in Washington, DC :in the District of Columbia, 1990-1993; St. Joseph Neighborhood Center, 1993-1994; and Pax Christi, 1994-1995. Sister moved to the Center of Hope, Newburgh, NY, 1995. She died November 17, 2003.
