This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Marina was born Catherine Salta on February 24, 1929 in Garfield, NJ. She entered the Newburgh Congregation September 8, 1948 and received the habit on June 17, 1949 when she received the religious name, Sister Marina. She pronounced first vows on June 19, 1950 and final vows on August 21, 1953. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Holy Family, New Rochelle, NY, 1950-1965; St. Thomas, Pleasantville, NY, 1965-1971, and 1971-1972 as principal; St. Mary, Passaic, NJ, 1972-1974; and Passaic Catholic Regional, 1974-1975. She also served in parish ministry in St. Anthony, Hawthorne, NJ, 1975-1993. Sister moved to Mt. St. Mary, Newburgh, NY where she shared her gifts of art with the resident sisters. Sister Marina earned her BS in Education from Seton Hall University, and her MA in Art Education from the College of New Rochelle. She died May 11, 2008.
