This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Mary was born Mary Ryan on May 12, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA. She entered the Newburgh Congregation September 8, 1958 and received the habit on June 16, 1961 when she received the religious name, Sister George Anne. (She began using the name, Sister Mary after Vatican II). She pronounced first vows on June 17, 1960 and final vows on August 21, 1963. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: St. Brendan, New Haven, CT, 1960-1961; St. Rose, Haddon Heights, NJ, 1961-1967; Assumption, Bridgeport, CT, 1967-1972; Queen of Apostles, Alexandria, VA, 1972-1974; St. Joan of Arc, Camden, NJ, 1974-1977. Sister also served as Pastoral Minister at Incarnation Parish, Mantua, NJ, 1977-1979; and in Ministry to the Sick, Aged and Indigent at St. Mary Parish, Gloucester, NJ. 1979-. Sister Mary earned her BA in English from Mt. St. Mary College, Newburgh, NY. She died December 18, 2009.
