This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Anne Marie was born Anne Marie Ryan on August 16, 1942 in Gouverneur, NY. She entered the Fall River Congregation September 12, 1960 and received the habit on August 21, 1961 when she received the religious name, Sister Peter Marie. (She began using the name, Sister Anne Marie after Vatican II). She pronounced first vows on august 22, 1963 and final vows on August 22, 1966. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Dominican Academy, Fall River, MA ,1962-1965. She taught religious education in West Chazy, NY, 1965-1969, and in Plattsburgh, NY, 1969-1974. She worked in the Ogdensburg Diocesan Religious Education Department, Ogdensburg, NY, 1974-1976. Sister also taught religion at Mount Assumption Institute in Plattsburgh, NY, 1976-1980. She was: Prioress of the Motherhouse of the Dominican Sisters of Fall River, MA,1982-1984; teacher and assistant principal at Mount Assumption Institute, 1984-1988; and pastoral associate at St. Mary’s Parish in Massena, NY, 1988-1990. Sister was administrator of the Fall River Motherhouse, 1990-1992,1993-1995. She was involved in community outreach at the Advocate Center in Norton, VA, 1992-1993. Sister Anne Marie was a member of the leadership team of the Dominican Sisters of Hope, 1995-1999. Following a sabbatical, Sister Anne Marie was pastoral associate at Holy Innocents Parish in Pleasantville, NY, 2000-2002. She worked in the finance office of the Dominican Sisters of Hope, 2002-2003, and was a part-time lecturer at Mount St. Mary College, Newburgh, NY, 2004-. Sister Anne Marie earned her BA in Sacred Theology from Providence College, Providence, RI, and her Master in Ministry from Seattle University. She also earned certification in a number of areas related to theology and pastoral ministry.
