From the Record Group: This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH.  It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical

Sister Margaret was born Margaret O'Henley on August 3, 1927. She entered the Ossining Congregation on March 7, 1956 and received the habit on September 9, 1956 when she was given the religious name, Sister Mary Annette. (She began using the name Sister Margaret after Vatican II). She pronounced first vows on September 10, 1957 and final vows on September 10, 1960. During her years in the congregation she served in public health... nursing for the Dominican Sisters of the Sick Poor Home Health Agencies in: Columbus OH; and NYC. She also worked for The Visiting Nurse Association in Detroit, MI and was supervisor for the Bruce Douglas Health Clinic, Detroit, MI . Sister Margaret received a BSN in Public Health from Wayne State University. She died on August 27, 2016. See more
