This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Mary Catherine was born Mary O'Callahan on August 3, 1907. She entered the Newburgh Congregation March 6, 1931 and received the habit on August 31, 1931 when she was given the religious name, Sister Mary Catherine. She pronounced first vows on September 2, 1932 and final vows on August 20, 1938. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: St. Mary, Newburgh, NY; St. Mary, Paterson, NJ; Holy Rosary Academy, NYC; St. Paul, Jersey City, NJ; Our Lady of Victory, Mt. Vernon, NY; and Holy Family, New Rochelle, NY. Sister Mary Catherine received a B.S. in Education from Seton Hall University. She died on June 3, 1997.
