This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Catherine Mary was born Doris O'Brien on April 27, 1921. She entered the Fall River Congregation December 7, 1942 and received the habit on August 19, 1943 when she was given the religious name, Sister Catherine Mary. She pronounced first vows on August 15, 1945 and final vows on August 30, 1948. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: St. Anne, Fall River, MA; St. Peter, Plattsburgh, NY; Dominican Academy, Fall River, MA; and St. Bernadette, New Haven, CT. Sister also served the congregation as a member of the Motherhouse Leadership Team in Fall River, MA. Sister Catherine Mary earned her BA in English from the College of the Sacred Hearts in Fall River. She died on May 23, 2012.
