This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Ann Bernadette was born Marie Muirhead on July 14, 1906 in Jersey City, NJ. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on September 7, 1931 and received the habit on July 12, 1932 when she was given the religious name, Sister Ann Bernadette. She pronounced first vows on July 12, 1933 and final vows on August 21, 1939 During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: St. Boniface, NYC, 1931-1933; St. Thomas, Cornwall, NY, 1933-1937; Holy Trinity, Passaic, NJ, 1937-1938; Guardian Angel, NYC, 1938-1941; St. Mary, Newburgh, NY, 1941-1942; St. Mary Gloucester, NJ, 1942-1943; Hawthorne, NJ, 1943-1948; Our Lady of Victory, Mt. Vernon, NY, 1948-1953; St. Peter, Rosendale, NY, 1953-1958; St. Augustine, Larchmont, NY, 1958-1965; and Holy Family, New Rochelle, NY, 1965-1968. Sister also served part time in the Finance Office, Mt. St. Mary, Newburgh, NY, 1983-. Sister Ann Bernadette earned her BS in elementary Education from Villanova University. She died June 20, 1996.
