This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Yvonne was born Genevieve Milroy on February 14, 1918 in Brooklyn, NY. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on September 8, 1936 and received the habit on June 27, 1937 when she was given the religious name, Sister Yvonne. She pronounced first vows on June 28, 1938 and final vows on August 21, 1944. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Mt. St. Mary 1938-1940; Larchmont, NY, Academy, 1941-1944; Casa San Jose, Mt. St. Mary, Newburgh, NY, 1947-1953; Mt. St. Mary academy, Newburgh, NY, 1953-1960; Pope Pius HS, Passaic, NJ, 1960-1968; Bishop Dunn Memorial, Newburgh, NY, 1968-1969; Mt. St. Mary College, Newburgh, NY, 1969-1983; and art studio, Mt. St. Mary, Newburgh, NY, 1983. Sister Yvonne earned her BS in Education and MFA, both from Catholic University, Washington, DC. She died August 29, 2001.
