This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Veronica was born Rosemary Miller on April 22, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY. She entered the Ossining Congregation September 12, 1959 and received the habit on May 1, 1960 when she received the religious name, Sister Veronica. She pronounced first vows on November 1, 1961 and final vows on November 1, 1964. During her years in the congregation she served in the Dominican Sisters of the Sick Poor Family Health Agencies : New York City, 1964-1975; Ossining, NY, 1975-1979; and Bronx, NY, 1979-1985. She served on the Board of Resurrection House, a food program, Harlem, NY, and on the Board of the Ossining Open Door from 1976-79. Sister was: nursing supervisor, Bronx, NY, 1985-1987; social services coordinator with Headstart in the Archdiocese of NY, 1988-1990; and child health nurse and life skills instructor, Siena House, Bronx, NY, 1990-1995. During this time she also served in congregational administration for the Dominican Sisters of the Sick Poor and was on the Board of Abraham House, an alternative to incarceration for first time offenders in the Bronx. Sister Veronica was on the leadership team of the newly formed Dominican Sisters of Hope, 1995-1999, and also served on the Board of the Newburgh Ministry. Sister has served as resident supervisor at St. Joseph’s Home, Jersey City, NJ, 2000-. Sister Veronica earned her AAS in Nursing from Bronx Community College and her BS in Nursing from Teachers College.
