This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Anne Francis was born Loretta McNally on May 21, 1926 in Jersey City, NJ. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on February 2, 1946 and received the habit on September 25, 1946 when she was given the religious name, Sister Anne Francis. She pronounced first vows on March 15, 1948 and final vows on August 27, 1951. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: at Saint Joseph Day Nursery, NYC, 1947-1950; Cathedral Elementary, Raleigh, NC, 1950-1961;.Sacred Heart, Camden, NJ, Our Lady of Victory, Mount Vernon, NY, 1964-1968; Saint Joseph Elementary, Toms River, NJ, 1968-1970; Saint Boniface, Paterson, NJ, 1970-1971; Saint Mary, Passaic, NJ, 1971-1972; Saint Paul School, Jersey City, NJ, 1972-1978; Saint Lawrence, Lindenwold, NJ, 1978-1984; Assumption School, Emerson, NJ, 1984-1986; and Saint Mary, Ocean, NJ, 1986-1989. Sister moved to Mt. St. Mary, Newburgh, NY, where she served in various capacities in congregational services and was a volunteer for the Dominican Sisters of Hope development office, 1989-. Sister Anne Francis earned a BS in Elementary Education from Villanova University. She died April 17, 2019.
