This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Regina Caeli was born Madeleine McGough on October 4, 1910 in Johnsonburg, PA. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on September 8, 1955 and received the habit on June 12, 1956 when she was given the religious name, Sister Regina Caeli. She pronounced first vows on June 13, 1957 and final vows on August 20, 1960. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: St. Joan of Arc, Fairview, NJ, 1957-1958; St. Thomas, Cornwall, NY, 1958-1963; Villa Cappara, Peurto Rico, 1963-1964; Our Lady of Fatima, Scarsdale, NY, 1964; and St. Paul, Jersey City, NJ, 1964-1973. Sister also served as: Social Worker at Mt. St. Mary Infirmary, Newburgh, NY, 1973-1979; provided services for Infirmary and retired sisters, Mt. St. Mary, 1979; Assistant to Executive Secretary, 1981-1982; and services to congregation and sisters, two days, Mt. St. Mary, and three days at Sacred Heart School Library, Newburgh, NY, 1982. She also served the Congregation as coordinator of sale of raffle tickets. Sister Regina earned her BS in Elementary Education from Pennsylvania State College, and her MS in Social Work from Catholic University. She died September 10, 1995.
