Scope and Contents
This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Marie Therese was born Alice McGath on July 18, 1905 in Ireland. She entered the Ossining Congregation on June 8, 1931 and received the habit June 19, 1932 when she received the religious name, Sister Marie Therese. She pronounced first vows on June 12, 1933 and final vows on June 12, 1936. During her years in the congregation she served in the following Dominican Sisters Home Health Care Agencies: Springfield, OH, 1939-1945; NYC, 1945-1946; Denver, CO, 1946-1948, 1955-1987; and Cincinnati, OH, 1948-1955. She also served in Promotion, Fundraising, Coordinator of Volunteers, Home Visiting in Denver, CO, 1978-1993-. Sister earned her Nursing Certificate from Misericordia Hospital, NY. She died February 20, 2006.
