This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Rosalie was born Rosalie McCullagh on December 1, 1917 in NYC. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on September 8, 1937 and received the habit on June 17, 1938 when she was given the religious name, Sister Marie Pierre. (She began using the name, Sister Rosalie after Vatican II). She pronounced first vows on June 18, 1939 and final vows on August 21, 1945. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: St. Mary, Newburgh, NY, 1939-1941; Pleasantville, NY, 1941-1942, Rosendale, NY, 1942-1947; St. Joseph Toms River, NJ, 1947-1957; Regina Caelie, Hyde Park, NY, 1957-1959; St. Patrick, Newburgh, NY, 1959-1962; and St. Christopher, Parsippany, NJ, 1962-1968. Sister ministered in the Diocesan School Office, Paterson, NJ, 1968-1971. She then taught at St. Anthony, Hawthorne, NJ, 1971-1973, and Msgr. Donovan High School, Toms River, NJ, 1973-2003. Sister Rosalie earned her BS in Elementary Education and her MA in Religion from Villanova University. She died April 9, 2009.
