This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Jeanne D'Arc was born Margaret McCann on October 1, 1914 in New Rochelle, NY. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on September 8, 1934 and received the habit on June 26, 1935 when she was given the religious name, Sister Jeanne D'Arc. She pronounced first vows on June 26, 1936 and final vows on August 20, 1942. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: St. Thomas, Cornwall, NY, 1936-1938; St. Augustine, Larchmont, NY, 1938-1941; Mt. St. Mary, Newburgh, NY, 1941-1943; Sacred Heart, Raleigh, NC, 1943-1945, 1946-1950; and St. Mary, Gloucester, NJ, 1950-1953; Pope Pius High School, Passaic, NJ, 1953-1958. Sister also served as Music Instructor in the Domus at Mt. St. Mary, Newburgh, NY, 1958-1963, and Mt. St. Mary College, 1963-1973. She was: an instructor for piano majors at Caldwell College, Caldwell, NJ, 1973-1976; and at Englewood Cliffs College, Englewood, NJ, 1973-1974. She was Pastoral Minister at St. Mary Parish, Boynton, Beach, FL, 1978-1984, and Director of Eucharistic Sick Call Ministry, 1984. Sister Jeanne D'Arc earned both her BA and MA in Music from Catholic University, Washington, DC, and a Certificate in Sacred Science from Providence College. She died June 12, 2003.
