This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Ann Victor was born Marie Mazza on October 7, 1934 in Cliffside, NJ. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on September 8, 1956 and received the habit on June 12, 1957 when she was given the religious name, Sister Ann Victor. She pronounced first vows on June 13, 1958 and final vows on August 21, 1962. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Saint Mary, Gloucester, NJ, 1958-1964; Saint Cecilia, Iselin, NJ, 1964-1968; Saint Paul, Jersey City, NJ, 1968-1971; St. Thomas, Pleasantville, NY, 1971-1972; Saint Therese, Succasunna, NJ, 1972-1973; Holy Family, New Rochelle, NY, 1973-1975; and Holy Trinity, Passaic, NJ, 1975-1988. Following a sabbatical and full-time study, Sister worked as an occupational therapist for the Passaic County Elks in Clifton, NJ, 1990-1994, and Allegro School in Cedar Knolls, NJ, 1994-1995. She returned to education and was principal at Holy Trinity School in Passaic, NJ, 1996-1998, and taught at Saint Anthony of Padua, Butler, NJ, 1999-2005. She was a part-time substitute teacher at Saint Anthony’s, 2005-. Sister Ann Victor earned her AA in Occupational Therapy from Union County College in Scotch Plains, NJ.
