This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Monica was born Beatrice Lefebvre on July 31, 1909 in Plattsburgh, NY. She entered the Fall River Congregation on August 30, 1930 and received the habit on March 6, 1931 when she received the religious name, Sister Monique. (She began using the name, Sister Monica after Vatican II). She pronounced first vows on March 7, 1932 and final vows on March 7, 1936. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: St. Anne, Fall River, MA, 1930-1931, 1933-1941, 1945-1947, 1948-1949, 1951-1962; Dominican Academy, Fall River, MA, 1932-1933, 1947-1948, 1949-1951, 1962, 1966-1971; St. Peter High School, Plattsburgh, NY,1941-1945, 1962-1966; Bishop Gerrand, 1971-1978; and St. Bernadette, 1978-1979. Sister also provided volunteer services at Dominican Academy and the Motherhouse in Fall River, MA, 1984-1994. She died October 1, 1997.
