This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Barbara was born Barbara Langlois on August 26, 1936 in Plattsburgh, NY. She entered the Fall River Congregation on February 18, 1956 and received the habit on August 22, 1956 when she was given the religious name, Sister Barbara. She pronounced first vows on August 22, 1958 and final vows on August 22, 1961. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Dominican Academy, Fall River, MA, 1962-1967, 1970-1974; St. Peter, Plattsburgh, NY, 1967-1970, 1974-1978; Saint Anne, Fall River, MA, 1979-1994; and was an aide to teachers and staff at St. Peter’s Nursery School in Plattsburgh, NY, 1996-1998. Sister ministered to her elderly parents in Plattsburgh, 1998-. She also served as Eucharistic minister at St. Anne’s Church in Fall River, MA and St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh, NY. Sister Barbara earned a BA from Providence College, Providence, RI.
