This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Mary Clare was born Agnes Lambert on August 27, 1912 in Worcester, MA. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on December 8, 1936 and received the habit on June 27, 1937. She pronounced first vows on June 28, 1938 and final vows on August 21, 1944. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Sacred Heart, Camden, NJ, 1938-1946; St. Paul, Jersey City, NJ, 1946-1954; St. Mary Passaic, as principal, 1954-1961, 1971-1974; Regina Coeli, Hyde Park, NY, 1961-1962; St. Joseph, Bayonne, NJ, 1962-1970; St. Mary, Paterson, NJ, 1970-1971; and Holy Trinity, Passaic, NJ, 1976-1981, and 1981-1984 as secretary. Sister was librarian and fund raiser at Holy Trinity, 1984-1985. Sister Mary Clare earned a BS in Education from Villanova University, PA. She died March 22, 2000.
