This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Imelda was born Dorothy Kaolgeras King on August 4, 1922 in New York, NY. She entered the Ossining Congregation on February 2, 1943 and received the habit on September 8, 1943. She pronounced first vows on September 8, 1944 and final vows on March 18, 1975. During her years in the congregation she served in the following Dominican Sisters Home Health Care Agencies: Detroit MI, 1950-1951; Dayton, OH, 1951-1954; Denver, CO, 1954-1955; Boston, MA, 1956-1959; Columbus, OH, 1959-1961; Springfield, OH, 1967-1976; and Cincinnati, 1976-1983. Sister also served in the Infirmary of the Sisters of St. Mary of the Springs, OH. Sister Imelda earned her RN from St. Catherine School of Nursing, and her BSN from Boston College. She died November 19, 2004.
