This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Margaret was born Margaret Kilpatrick on November 10, 1924 in Newburgh, NY. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on September 8, 1942 and received the habit on June 17, 1943 when she was given the religious name, Sister Robert Marie.(She began using the name, Sister Margaret after Vatican II). She pronounced first vows on June 18, 1944 and final vows on August 25, 1949. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: St. Thomas, Cornwall, NY, 1945-1946; Larchmont, NY, 1946-1951; Annunciation, Crestwood, NY, 1951-1958; and St. Mary, Newburgh, NY, 1960-1969. She also taught at the following High Schools: Mt. St. Mary Academy, Newburgh, NY, 1960-1969; and Pope Pius XII, Passaic, NJ, 1969-1976. Sister also ministered in: Mt. St. Mary Infirmary, Newburgh, NY, 1977-1980; Nursing at the Little Sisters of the Assumption, Family Health Service, New York City, 1980-1982; and was a member of the staff at Newburgh Ministry, Newburgh, NY, 1982-. Sister Margaret earned: a BA in History from Villanova University, PA, an MA from Catholic University, Washington, DC; and a diploma in Practical Nursing from St. Joseph School of Nursing, Yonkers, NY. Sister died June 22, 2007.
