This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Patricia was born Patricia Kennedy on June 19, 1924, 1924 in Syracuse, NY. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on September 8, 1953 and received the habit on June 14, 1954 when she was given the religious name, Sister Mary Paul. ( She began using the name, Sister Patricia after Vatican II). She pronounced first vows on June 15, 1955 and final vows on August 25, 1949. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Mt. St. Mary Academy, Newburgh, NY, 1953-1954; and Pope Pius XII High School, 1955-1971. In 1971 she was elected to the Council of the Dominican Sisters of Newburgh, NY, and re-elected in 1975. She served as Administrator of Mt. St. Mary, Infirmary, Newburgh, NY, 1973-1979, and Administrator of Mt. St. Mary Convent, Newburgh, NY,1979-. Sister completed a Career Options Program at Calvary Hospital, Bronx, NY, 1981-1982. She was Food Service Supervisor at Morningside Nursing Home, Bronx, NY 1982-1983, and then Clinical Dietitian, 1983-. Sister Patricia earned: a BA from Syracuse University; an MA from Columbia University, NY; and permanent certification in Home Economics from New York State. She died December 7, 2004.
