This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Margaret Vincent was born Margaret Kennedy on August 30, 1926 in Poughkeepsie, NJ. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on September 8, 1944 and received the habit on June 21, 1945 when she was given the religious name, Sister Margaret Vincent. She pronounced first vows on June 24, 1946 and final vows on August 25, 1949. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Holy Family, New Rochelle, NY, 1946-1953; Haddon Heights, NJ, 1953-1955; and Sts. John and Paul, Larchmont, NY, 1955-1958. Sister also taught in the following High Schools: Pope Pius XII, Passaic, NJ, 1958-1962, 1963-1965; St. Joseph, Toms River, NJ, 1962-1963; Our Lady of Lourdes, Poughkeepsie, NY, 1965-1968; Immaculate, Danbury, CT, assistant principal, 1968-1969; Mt. St. Mary Academy, Newburgh, NY, principal, 1969-1975; and Mt. St. Mary High School, Newburgh, 1975-1978 as principal. During the years, 1978-1982, sister was involved in home care for her family and also taught at St. Mary High School, New Haven, CT. In 1983 she became the media/music coordinator at St. Mary High School, New Haven, CT, and then taught at St. Francis, New Haven, CT. Sister Margaret Vincent earned a BA in Latin from Villanova University, PA, and an MA CUA in Latin. She also earned certification in Theology from Providence College, Providence, RI. She died April 24, 2005.
