Biographical / Historical

Sister Connie was born ConstanceLynn Kelly on May 4, 1962 in Norwood, PA. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on September 6, 1986 and was received into the novitiate on August 6, 1988. She pronounced first vows on June 30, 1990 and final vows on October 1, 1994. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Passaic, NJ, 1986-1988. After completing her novitiate program and additional studies, she was education coordinator for New Community in Newark, NJ, 1989-1991. She taught in Saint Joseph School in Carteret, NJ, 1991-1995, and Blessed Sacrament, Newark, NJ, 1995-1997. She was principal of St. Paul School in Jersey City, NJ, 1997-2000. Sister was retreat manager at the Dominican Retreat House in Elkins Park, PA, 2002-2004 and a teacher at St. Anthony School in New York City, 2004-2005. She also taught at the Nativity Mission Center in New York City, 2005-2009, and St. Michael High School, Bronx, NY, 2010-2014. In 2014 she was elected to the Leadership Team of the Dominican Sisters of Hope, Ossining, NY. Sister ConstanceLynn earned: her BS in Elementary Education; her MS in Special Education; and her MA in Education from Mount Saint Mary College, Newburgh, NY.
