This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Marie de Lourdes was born Regina Justice on February 6, 1930 in Gloucester, NJ. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on September 8, 1951 and received the habit on June 16, 1952 when she was given the religious name, Sister Marie de Lourdes. She pronounced first vows on June 7, 1953 and final vows on August 21, 1956. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: St Paul, Jersey City, NJ, 1953-1955; Our Lady of Victory, Mount Vernon, NY, 1955-1957; Holy Family, New Rochelle, NY, 1957-1962; Holy Rosary, Hawthorne, NY, 1962-1969; Annunciation, Crestwood, NY, 1969-1972; St Anthony, Hawthorne, NJ, 1972-1975; and Guardian Angel, New York City,1975-2005. in 2005 she retired and resided at St. Michael’s Convent in New York City. Sister then moved to Wartburg Assisted Living, Mt. Vernon, NY. Sister Marie de Lourdes earned her BS in Elementary Education from Seton Hall University, and her MSE in Reading from the College of New Rochelle, NY.
