This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Beth was born Beth Jaspers on October 17, 1938 in Cincinnati, OH. She entered the Ossining Congregation on August 30, 1964 and received the habit on September 8, 1965 when she received the religious name, Sister Elizabeth Margaret. (She began using the name, Sister Beth after Vatican II.) She pronounced first vows on September 10, 1966 and final vows on March 10, 1973. During her years in the congregation she served in the following Dominican Sisters Home Health Care Agencies: Cincinnati OH, 1968-1973; and Bronx, NY, 1973-1976. Sister ministered in Norton, Virginia, where she worked in community health and advocacy outreach for the Dominican Sisters Nursing Service,1977-1990, and for the Advocate Center, 1990-2017. Sister Beth earned: her RN from Good Samaritan School of Nursing; her BSN in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati; and her MSW from Virginia Commonwealth University. Sister Beth Jaspers, OP died at Cabrini Nursing Home in Dobbs Ferry, NY, on May 8, 2023. She was 84. She is buried at Dominican Sisters’ Cemetery on the grounds of the Mariandale Center.
