This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Agnes was born Agnes Holmes on August 6, 1931 in Ireland. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on September 8, 1953 and received the habit on June 14, 1954 when she was given the religious name, Sister Michael Ann. (She began using the name, Sister Agnes after Vatican II). She pronounced first vows on June 15, 1955 and final vows on August 21, 1958. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Saint Mary, Paterson, NJ, 1955-1965; and Little Flower, Pensacola, FL, 1965-1970. She was administrator of Mt. Mary Convent, Newburgh, NY, 1971-1972. She then taught at: Saint Mary, Gloucester, NJ, 1972-1975; and Sacred Heart, Camden, NJ, 1975-1978. She taught and was pastoral minister at Saint Vincent DePaul Parish, Holiday, FL, 1978-1986. Sister was also pastoral minister at Saint Rita Church, Wellington, FL, 1986-. Sister Agnes earned her BA in Social Studies from Mt. St. Mary College, Newburgh, NY, and a Certificate in Pastoral Ministry from St. Joseph College in West Hartford, CT.
