This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Anne was born Anne Gordon on May 7, 1940 in Trenton, NJ. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on September 8, 1959 and received the habit on June 7, 1960 when she was given the religious name, Sister Anne Jude. (She began using the name, Sister Anne after Vatican II). She pronounced first vows on August 2, 1961 and final vows on August 4, 1966. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: St. Lawrence, Lindenwold, NJ, 1961-1962; Sacred Heart, Camden, NJ, 1962-1964; St. Mary, Gloucester, NJ, 1964-1969, 1973-1976; and St. Rose, Haddon Heights, NJ, 1969-1973. She worked in social services for the Camden County Hospital in Lakeland, NJ, 977-1981; was unit supervisor for the American Institute of Mental Studies in Vineland, NJ, 1981-1982; and was director of admissions at Mt. Laurel Nursing Home in Mt. Laurel, NJ, 1982-1983. Sister was a social worker at Ancora Psychiatric Hospital in Hammonton, NJ, 1984-1986. She was food service manager at Ministry to Ministers in San Antonio, TX, 1986-1988. She returned to New Jersey, where she was recreation aide at Camden County Hospital in Lakeland , 1988-1990. Returning to San Antonio, TX: she taught at Little Flower School, 1990-1992; was cook at Antonian Residence as well as teacher at Saint Gregory School,1992-1995. Back on the east coast, Sister taught at Holy Trinity School, Passaic, NJ, 1995-1998; and at St. Joseph, Jersey City, NJ, 1998-2001. She was a teacher with the Independent Child Study Team at Trinity Episcopal Academy in Trenton, NJ, 2003-2004. Sister was a faculty assistant and substitute at Notre Dame High School in Lawrenceville, NJ, 2004-. Sister Anne earned her BA in Education from Mount Saint Mary College, Newburgh, NY.
