This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister John Dominic was born Marie-Anna Girard on August 18, 1899 in Fall River, MA. She entered the Fall River Congregation on August 30, 1916 and received the habit on March 7, 1918 when she received the religious name, Sister John Dominic. She pronounced first vows on March 7, 1919 and final vows on March 31,1923. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Plattsburgh, NY, 1928-1936; St. Peter, Plattsburgh, NY, 1940-1961; St. Anne, Fall River, MA, 1937-1940, 1971-; and Religious Education in Chateaugay, Mooers Forks, and Ellenburg, NY, 1961-1971. She died February 25 2000.
