This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Dorothy Ann was born Dorothy Ann Gensur on February 21, 1938 in Phoenix, AR. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on September 8, 1962 and received the habit on June 19, 1963 when she was given the religious name, Sister Dorothy Ann. She pronounced first vows on June 22, 1964 and final vows on August 30, 1969. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Bishop Dunn Memorial, Newburgh, NY, 1962-1963, 1973-1974; Saint Mary, Newburgh, NY, 1964-1967; Saint Thomas, Cornwall, NY, 1967-1972; Saint Augustine, Larchmont, NY, 1972-1973; Saint Anthony, Hawthorne, NJ, 1974-1975; and Assumption, Fairfield, CT, 1975-1976. She was principal of Assumption School from 1976-1979. Sister Dorothy Ann then moved to Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, where she taught at Academia San Jose Elementary School, 1979-2013. Sister retired and moved to Kissimmee, Fl. where she volunteers in the local parish and the Library. Sister Dorothy earned her BS in Early Childhood Education from Southern Connecticut State College and her MA in Religious Studies from Providence College.
