This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Stephanie was born Barbara Frenette on July 11, 1941 in Detroit, MI. She entered the Fall River Congregation on September 8, 1959 and received the habit on August 21, 1960 when she received the religious name, Sister Mary Stephanie. She pronounced first vows on August 22, 1962 and final vows on August 22, 1965. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Dominican Academy Elementary, Fall River, MA, 1961-1962; St. Peter, Plattsburgh, NY, 1962-1963, 1969-1972, and 1977-2002; and St. Bernadette, New Haven, CT. She worked as a home health aide for the North Country Home Services and Lake Forest Facilities, Plattsburgh, NY. Sister Stephanie serves on the Leadership Board of the North Country Mission of Hope, and travels to Nicaragua twice a year on mission trips. She is also a volunteer for Hospice of the North Country and serves as Eucharistic minister at St. Peter’s Parish in Plattsburgh, NY. Sister Stephanie earned her BA from Providence College, Providence, RI.
