This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Catherine Marie was born Alberta Federici on March 12, 1911 in Paterson, NJ. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on September 8, 1932 and received the habit on June 28, 1933 when she was given the religious name, Sister Catherine Marie. She pronounced first vows on June 29, 1934 and final vows on August 20, 1940. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Raleigh, NC, 1943; Mt. St. Mary, Newburgh, NY, 1943-1958, 1965-1966; Pope Pius XII High School, Passaic, NJ,1958-1965; and Mt. St. Mary Music School, (Domus), as Director of the school and piano teacher, 1965-. Sister Catherine Marie was: a music instructor at Mt. St. Mary College, Newburgh, NY, 1978-; piano instructor, Mt. St. Mary Convent, 1980-; liturgical assistant, Mt. St. Mary Convent, 1982-1983; and liturgist, 1983-1984. Sister was also an assistant in the art studio, Mt. St. Mary Convent, 1983-1984. Sister Catherine Marie earned: a degree in Music from Catholic University, Washington, DC; an MM, from Catholic University and was a National certified piano teacher. Sister was proficient in the piano, organ, violin, harp and other instruments. She died October 18, 2008.
