This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Lorelle was born Lorelle Elcock on October 29, 1943 in Philadelphia, PA. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on August 30, 1961 and received the habit on June 19, 1962 when she was given the religious name, Sister Elizabeth Anthony. (She began using the name, Sister Lorelle after Vatican II). She pronounced first vows on June 20, 1963 and final vows on December 7, 1968. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Regina Coeli, Hyde Park, NY; Sts. John and Paul, Larchmont, NY, 1966-1967; Gloucester Catholic High School, Gloucester, NJ, 1967-1973; and Mt. St. Mary Academy, Newburgh, NY 1973-1975. She was vocation director for the Dominican Sisters of Newburgh, 1975-1980 and taught math and computer science at Our Lady of Lourdes High School, Poughkeepsie, NY 1980-1981. Upon completion of full-time studies, Sister was appointed Assistant Director of Institutional Research at Mount Saint Mary College, 1984-1987. She was Treasurer General and planning coordinator for the Dominican Sisters of Newburgh, 1987-1991. Sister was Long Range Planning Director, 1990-1991. She was Long Range Planning Director for the three Dominican congregations forming a union that became the Dominican Sisters of Hope, 1990-1995. Following a sabbatical, she was engaged in an environmental project for the congregation at its three Centers, 1996-1999. Sister Lorelle was involved in management consulting, 1999-2001. She was associate director of NATRI (National Association of Treasurers of Religious Institutes) in Silver Spring, MD, 2001-2006. Sister was Strategic Plan Project Manager for the Dominican Sisters of Hope, 2007-2009. She was elected Prioress of the Dominican Sisters of Hope in 2009 and re-elected in 2014. Sister Lorelle earned her BA in Mathematics from Mount Saint Mary College, Newburgh, NY; her MS in Mathematics from the University of Notre Dame, IN; and her PhD in Administration and Engineering Systems from Union University, Schenectady, New York.
